Elton John on Fatherhood: No 'Silver Spoon' for New Son
Elton John was born Reginald Dwight in England in 1947. In 1967 he changed his name to reflect the names of blues musicians Elton Dean and John Baldry. Although he had been writing hit songs for other pop music stars in the 1960s, John's career took off in 1970 with his self-titled second album, which featured the Top 10 hit "Your Song."
